Class Fee: $20 plus $5 materials fee

Class Size: 12 / Adults and children age 8 + accompanied by an adult

Students will be introduced to a variety of fibers and will have opportunities to prepare wool for spinning using hand cards and a drum carder. We will make simple drop spindles and spin yarn suitable for a simple project. The class will also have access to a treadle spinning wheel to share once students have mastered the basics of the spinning process. Some history of wool-related mills in the area will be woven into the fabric of this workshop.

About Kathy Torrey: I am a retired teacher and avid fiber artist. I have taught workshops in spinning, dyeing, and felt making to students at the Orchard School, Old Deerfield, The Fiber Studio and other venues.
