Intro to the Lathe - Spindle Making

Class Fee: $25.00/per person

Class Size: 6 / Adults and children age 12 + accompanied by an adult

Students will learn and practice the basic cuts to make a turned object between spindles on a wood lathe. Bead, cove, and straight cuts will be shown and practiced. Also included will be a demonstration on how and when to sharpen tools. All tools will be provided but students are encouraged to bring any turning tools they may have.

About Grant Taylor: I have been a professional woodworker since 1975. A founding member of the Guild of New Hampshire Woodworkers and a state-juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, I studied in the United States with master woodcarver Art Ritchie of Keene, New Hampshire, and in Connemara, Ireland with furniture master Al O'Dea. I also attended the Celtic College in Goderich, Ontario, to study the design and construction of Celtic knotwork, spirals, and key patterns.
