In Alstead, New Hampshire a century-old water-powered mill is being restored as a workshop, learning center, and community gathering place that will open to the public in mid-July of 2020.
Chase's Mill stands on a dry-laid stone foundation dating to the 1700s, and the building incorporates ancient handhewn beams and boards. Its location on Warren Brook in East Alstead's Mill Hollow was once the site of a grist mill and a carding machine and fulling mill that processed much of the 11,440 pounds of wool from the town's 6,331 sheep between 1810 and 1830.
