The Indigenous People of the Upper Connecticut River have maintained a presence in New England for centuries. This talk will introduce David Abraham, a Christianized Nipmuc Indian of Hassanamessit, who moved to East Alstead, NH in the early 1770s. Abraham’s story and that of other Protestant converts highlights the complex and interconnected relationships they had with their fellow English townspeople.
