Kate will talk about her role as the NH River Steward for the Connecticut River Conservancy and lead a discussion about the inherent connectivity of watersheds and how community participation in caring for local waters can have broader positive impacts. Kate Buckman is an Alstead native with a strong connection to the waters of this area, from swimming in Lake Warren to hunting salamanders in vernal pools. She graduated from Smith College and received her PhD from the MIT/WHOI joint program in Oceanography, and later spent several years at Dartmouth College as part of the Toxic Metals Superfund Research Group. Kate joined the Connecticut River Conservancy as the River Steward for NH in late 2022.
