Class size: 8-12 / Adults
Spend an afternoon exploring the relationship between trees and the poets they shaped. We'll examine what U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Lion called "the language of reciprocity" in her works and those of Seamus Heaney, Alice Oswald, Mary Oliver, Robert Frost, and others. We'll also write and share our experiences of forming and being formed by wood(s). Please bring a favorite wooden object or picture of a tree.
Audrey Henderson's poetry has been published widely in the United States and UK, where she was a contributor to BBC Radio Scotland. Her book Airstream was shortlisted for Scotland's Saltire Society first book award. A Hawthornden Fellow, she has taught poetry workshops at Boston College and Simmons College and worked as an outdoor educator with the Appalachian Mountain Club.
