Making Decorative Paste Paper

Paste papers are one of the oldest decorative techniques used by bookbinders. They are commonly used as end sheets and decorative book covers. Likely you already have beginning experience making paste paper from when you did finger painting as a child. In this class we’ll explore some more sophisticate techniques to make beautiful patterns with a 3-dimensional look.

Nancy Botkin is the granddaughter of Edith and Heman Chase. She spends her winters at her home in San Francisco learning and practicing new book and paper craft skills. She then teaches them to others in the summer. This is her third year teaching at the Mill.
