Mother's Day Brunch at Orchard Hill

Orchard Hill Farm & Breadworks cordially invite you to our annual Mother's Day Brunch, a fine foods feast featuring ingredients from neighboring farms. This is our seventh annual celebration to honor moms, the beginning of the growing season, and our farming friends and neighbors! We source every ingredient we can from local farms and producers, featuring fresh spring vegetables, eggs, dairy, meat and preserved fruit as well as locally roasted coffee and freshly baked bread.

We are happy to welcome back to our team again this year guest chef Addie Davis. Addie comes to us from her position as chef at Chebeague Island Inn in Maine. She earned her culinary degree from Paul Smiths College and has worked in fine dining kitchens from Maine to NYC, including Manhattan's “Dovetail," Portland’s “Five fifty-five” & “EVO.” Her repertoire is rooted in classical French cooking, but she regularly incorporates flavors from around the globe into her cooking.

New for 2018, a chance to sit ringside while the chefs work their magic at a five seat “chef’s table”. We’ll indulge you with a special treat or two and you’ll head home with a gift bag of local goodies. There are only 5 seats available at each seating, so if you’ve got a party of 5, make the reservation right away!

Old Tools Demonstration

The Mill Hollow Heritage Association (MHHA) will be offering a demonstration of old woodworking skills at Chase’s Mill in Mill Hollow, 801 Rt 123, East Alstead.  Jason Breen of West Brattleboro will demonstrate the use of old molding planes to make moldings while Wade Smith of East Alstead will demonstrate “riving” or the splitting of wood for boards, fence rails, and shingles. This event is free however donations will be accepted.

Jason Breen builds custom furniture, wooden ware and timber frames at his studio in West Brattleboro, Vermont.  A member of the Guild of Vermont Furniture Makers and Brattleboro West Arts, Mr Breen has shown work around the state in group exhibits. Much of his work is inspired by the hand tools he inherited from family.

Wade Smith  is a 22-year veteran of the boatbuilding trade and is active in the design and implementation of experiential learning programs. One of three instructors of the WoodenBoat School's 2-week “flagship class”, Wade is a past Director of the John Gardner Boat Shop, at Mystic Seaport Museum.
