Celebrate Wood!

Classes, lectures, and workshops run from July 1 - September 1.

This summer, we will Celebrate Wood! in all its forms, with a presentation on woodlot management, a walk through a managed forest, a class on turning plates from cherry wood, and a beginner Woodworking for Everyone class series. We will also offer returning favorites like papercrafting and watercolor painting. A series of events throughout the month of July will honor and teach about the first peoples of what we now call the Monadnock Region. Check the website in June for the full list of events. Classes at the Mill 2022

Bring your friends, family, and neighbors to learn new skills or refine old ones, take a stroll through local history, and more at Chase’s Mill this summer. Programs begin June 4 and run through October 9. All instructors or course leaders live in or near Mill Hollow and look forward to sharing their practical knowledge and fond connections to the Mill. The Mill is located on the northwest corner of Lake Warren. Physical Location: 801 Forest Road, Alstead, NH 03602.

Please be sure to review our policies, as all visitors and participants will be required to adhere to these policies. Those taking a tour, in a class, or participating in a mill activity (not including our speaker programs) will need to sign a release form prior to participation in those activities. Class size: 4-12 / Adults and children with supervision

Lark can help students visualize what farm harvests were like (and what they meant) prior to the Industrial Revolution. Each student will make a harvest token to take home.

Lark Leonard has been plaiting straw ornaments now for over 40 years. She learned from Shelley Osborne, then of Walpole, NH, and from Marilyn Stearns of Springfield, Vt. She also discovered a great deal on her own. The custom is many centuries old and is an expression of profound gratitude for the fullness of harvest. Lark looks forward to sharing this tradition. Please bring an open heart and joyful hands. We will have fun!
